Cudahy, WI holds a special place in our hearts, so it was an absolute honor to be called upon for a unique project. A beloved patron of the Cudahy Family Library, Suzann Collins, passed away and chose to leave a gift to the library in the form of a donation to be used to help children continue to grow and learn. She also donated her collection of glass rose bowls wished for them to be on display in the library. The name of this particular space was changed to the "Suzann E. Collins Gathering Place" in her honor.
We wanted to give the rose bowls a new life and display them in museum-quality way with a twist. Rather than displaying them on a shelf, we designed and fabricated a custom illuminated cube sculpture to display her favorite bowls. Each cube has its own light box that not only illuminates the bowls, but also acts as the base for mounting the clear cubes to the wall. The clear cubes slide on to the light box and are secured with a few simple screws at the top, making it look like the boxes are floating on the wall.
On top of everything else, we also helped create the biography wall layout design and the copper lettering above her biography and above the door into the space. The portrait of Suzann was painted by Madeline Glaspey from Find Your Light LLC.
